Yelp! Mahopac is going to the dogs - again! It started with the opening of the Sycamore Bark Park in April of 2009. Now, a year later, the mutts are taking over all of Sycamore Park! Don’t worry, it’s for one day only. Forty-one years ago there was Woodstock. Now, in Mahopac, there will be WOOFSTOCK! But don’t go around with your tail between your legs if you are dogless. WOOFSTOCK is about our four-footed furry friends and families of all sorts coming together in peace, harmony and doggy love. The event is being hosted by the Friends of Sycamore Bark Park, a “pack” of individuals who love their dogs and their community. In a cooperative collaboration with the Carmel Parks & Recreation Department, the pack helps to manage the dog park addressing the problems of the park, and seeking to educate the members and the community about appropriate canine behavior, responsible dog ownership and proper dog park etiquette. Due to the popularity of the dog park, funds are being raised to expand the park and to correct drainage problems.

So here are the doggone facts. WOOFSTOCK will take place August 8, 2010, rain or shine – didn’t it rain cats and dogs at Woodstock- between 10am and 5pm at Sycamore Park. It will be a park-wide event with a Grateful Dog Walk, demonstrations by K-9 search and rescue dogs, Disc, Fly Ball and Dancing Dogs, local vendors, puppy parades, animal rescue groups, on-site micro-chipping and fingerprinting, contests, tie dyeing, entertainment, photo booths, food and more.
Admission: $1 per person.

So get out those bell bottoms, tie dye shirts and love beads, put a flower in your hair and join us. For more info, go to www.woofstock2010.info.
